On the Line: Safety First
The Lane-Scott Electric comprehensive safety program includes the annual testing of all the co-op’s high voltage safety sticks our linemen use for live-line work. These important tools are insulated poles with a tool at the end used for a wide range of electric work such as voltage testing, operating switches, replacing fuses and tightening fasteners.
During inspection, the insulation integrity of each stick is tested using a wet/dry tester, they undergo inspection for physical damage and are tested against high voltage. The testing process is crucial for identifying potential defects that could lead to electrical hazards and put our linemen at risk of injury.
