Tis the Season of Giving at Lane-Scott Electric
The holiday season is fully upon us. Turkeys have been roasted, holiday lights are being hung, and Christmas trees decorated. It is also a season of appreciation for the family and loved ones in our lives. At Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative, it is also a time for us to celebrate and show our appreciation to our members.
We are Returning Over $450,000 to Members in Capital Credits
This year, the Lane-Scott Electric Board of Trustees approved a Capital Credit retirement of over $450,000 to current and past members who had electric service during the year 1999! The amount that an individual receives is based on the amount of electricity used (kilowatt-hours) during the payout year.
All cooperatives, including electric cooperatives, operate at cost, with any excess revenue (called margins) allocated to members, which are eventually retired (paid out) as capital credits in later years when the Board of Trustees determines it is economically feasible.
Eligible current members will receive either a check or credit to their primary Lane-Scott Electric account this month. Past members will receive a check to the address on file at Lane-Scott. It is important that Lane-Scott has the current mailing address for past members to ensure delivery of capital credit checks.
To confirm or update your mailing address, please call us at 620-397-5327 or 800-407-2217.
Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaway
Capital Credits is not the only way we spread holiday cheer. Our first holiday member promotion this year began with the Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaway. Members were able to nominate a recipient or enter into a drawing for three $100 gift certificates to local grocery store of their choosing. We are happy to lend a helping hand to those who could use a little extra this time of year, while also supporting our local grocery stores.
Military Care Packages
Lane-Scott is an enthusiastic supporter of the men and women who bravely serve and protect our great country. Beginning in 2020, we started sending care packages to active military whose parents or guardians are from the Lane-Scott territory. Packages are being mailed out this month to spread a little cheer to soldiers both state-side and abroad this Christmas.
You Can Give the Gift of Electricity
As printed in this newsletter, members and non-members alike can purchase electricity for a Lane-Scott Electric member this Christmas. We will credit the person’s electric account for how ever much you would like to gift. In return, you will receive a Christmas certificate to give to the recipient. The credit will be applied to their January bill.
New this year, general donations can be given to Lane-Scott Electric to apply to the account of a member we know is in need.
From everyone at Lane-Scott Electric, we wish all our members a happy, healthy, and bright holiday season. We look forward to providing you with safe, reliable electricity, and continuing to support our local communities through our various programs in the year to come.
