Three Board Positions Open for New Trustees
Lane-Scott Electric Board of Trustee terms rotate every three years between the nine trustee positions and the four county district territories. Every year, the trustee positions whose terms expire are open to members and incumbent trustees who wish to run for an additional term.
THIS YEAR, ALL THREE TRUSTEES WHOSE SEATS EXPIRE ARE OPTING NOT TO RUN FOR ANOTHER TERM. The trustees who served in these roles were all valuable contributors who cumulatively have nearly 60 years of experience. The open positions are in the FINNEY-HODGEMAN, LANE-GOVE and SCOTT-LOGAN county districts. We need members to fill these important positions!
WHO SHOULD RUN?
Any current Lane-Scott Electric member and bona-fide resident of the county or counties the member is to represent; who receives electricity from Lane-Scott Electric in the represented county or counties; who does not have a conflict of interest or has been employed by the Cooperative within the past five-years, is eligible to be a Lane-Scott trustee.
Having expertise in the electrical field is not a requirement. We’re looking for individuals who can represent the full gamut of the members we serve, who have a passion for the community and willingness to actively serve and learn. It takes many people with different skills to create a well-rounded board. The Board meets once a month, and we offer specialized training opportunities to help trustees gain a deeper understanding of the electric utility industry and the cooperative business model.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SERVE ON THE BOARD
Serving on Lane-Scott Electric’s board means you’re making a difference locally, using your individual talents and perspective to guide big decisions about the co-op that in turn benefit the larger community. The Lane-Scott Electric Board of Trustees, with input from the Cooperative General Manager and staff, approve budgets, rates, and work plans, set strategic goals, and provide direction on behalf of our members.
In addition, Lane-Scott Electric board member delegates also serve on the Sunflower Electric Board of Directors and Kansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. Board of Trustees.
Members interested in running for one of these positions need to contact our office at 620-397-5327 during normal business hours by April 25, 2025. Qualified candidates will be referred to the Lane-Scott Electric Nominating Committee. The election will begin in June and conclude at the Annual Meeting on July 15.
