Majority of Reported Outages in 2024 Caused by January Blizzard
The chart above shows outage events experienced by Lane-Scott Electric members last year, by cause.
The highest number of outage events for the year was 21, or 36%, caused by major events, followed by lightning/rain/wind events with 18.
Diving deeper into outage times and causes, the January 2024 blizzard was the biggest outage culprit. The storm knocked-out power to 42% of meters on our system, accounting for 85% of the outage hours for the year. Due to the blizzard, our outage hours were 60% above our 10-year average.
Even with the storm, Lane-Scott’s Average Service Availability Index (ASAI) was 99.92%, meaning members have reliable electricity on our system 99.92% of the time.
As always, when unplanned outages occur, we do our best to repair and restore as quickly and safely as possible. We appreciate all the positive feedback and words of encouragement members have expressed, especially during the harsh conditions such as the January blizzard.
