Local Schools Work to Stock Our Food Pantries for Summer
The Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative Annual Food Drive Challenge to Stock the Pantries for Summer was better than ever this year! The classes who participated were determined to help towards a great cause, and of course win the challenge to get $100 for their classroom and a year-end pizza party!
In all, over 4,500 items were collected to go to the Lane County Food Bank in Dighton and Ness County Food Bank in Ransom! The most by nearly 1,000 items that has been collected since the challenge started! Dighton Elementary collected 2,896 items for Lane County, Western Plains North, Western Plains South, and Sacred Heart of Ness City collected 1,646 items for Ness County.
The challenge encourages students to reach out to their communities to collect items. “We are so grateful for the students, teachers, and community who contributed towards our cause”, said Ann Marie Jennings, Lane-Scott Electric Member Service. “With grocery costs at an all-time high, what a great year to help our food banks stock-up before summer.”
