Lane-Scott Board of Trustee Election Information and Nominating Committee Meeting Notice

Lane-Scott Electric Board of Trustee terms rotate every three years between the nine trustee positions and the four county district territories. Every year, the trustee positions whose terms expire are open to members and incumbent trustees who wish to run for an additional term. Qualified candidates will be referred to the Lane-Scott Electric nominating committee who will approve candidates to run for election based upon the qualifications listed in our bylaws and below.

Nominating Committee Meeting Notice

The nominating committee appointed by the Lane-Scott Electric Board of Trustees will meet on April 27, 2026, at the Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative headquarters at 410 S. High St., Dighton, Kansas, at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of nominating trustees.

Position Terms Expiring

The district positions currently up for election and trustees whose terms expire are as follows:

Lane-Gove District: Randy Evans (Incumbent, running for reelection)

Ness – Rush District: James Jordan (Incumbent, running for reelection)

Hodgeman – Finney District: Susan Nuss (Incumbent, running for reelection)

Qualifications to be a Lane-Scott Electric Trustee

Members who wish to run for election must meet these basic qualifications:

1. Be a bona fide resident of the county or counties the member is to represent.

2. Using, receiving or purchasing a cooperative electric service in the represented county.

3. Does not have a conflict of interest.

4. Has not been an employee of the cooperative within the past five years.

Having expertise in the electrical field is not a requirement. The board of trustees consist of individuals who represent the full gamut of the Lane-Scott membership, who have a passion for the community and willingness to actively serve and learn. It takes many people with different skills to create a well-rounded board. Board members receive specialized training opportunities to help trustees gain a deeper understanding of the electric utility industry and the cooperative business model. The board meets once a month, typically on the fourth Monday.

Members Interested in Running for Election

Members who would like to be considered by the nominating committee to run for a position need to call Lane-Scott at 620-397- 5327 by April 24, 2026. Potential candidates will be vetted and if approved, submitted for approval by the nominating committee. The 2026 election will begin in June and conclude at the Lane-Scott Electric Annual Meeting on July 14, 2026.
