Lane-Scott Electric Supports Local Communities with Sharing Success Grants
Lane-Scott Electric believes in helping our members build better, stronger communities. It is through programs such as Sharing Success that we are able to directly help local organizations fulfill their various philanthropies and projects. This year, we are again awarding four $1,000 grants to organizations who benefit a community or communities who receive electric service from Lane-Scott Electric. The funds are made possible through a partnership with Co-Bank who matches 50% of Lane-Scott’s contribution.
Our first recipient is the American Legion Riders Post 392 located in Bazine, KS. The American Legion Riders is a national non-profit organization with over 110, 000 riders and over 2,000 chapters well known for their charitable work raising money not only for local chapters but nationwide for children’s hospitals, schools, veterans’ homes and wounded servicemembers. Locally, and more specifically the riders are known for doing send-offs and welcome home ceremonies, veteran funerals, the honor flight, sending care packages, and helping with meals for the Kansas American Legion Legacy Ride, a wreath laying ceremony in eight towns across Kansas. Nationally, they have members who help with the Run for the Wall which goes from California to Washington DC, the National Legacy Ride, and Wreaths Across America. Their $1,000 Sharing Success Grant will help with expenses needed for their Fundraiser Run on May 22, 2022. Money raised from this event will then be donated to organizations that help with veterans’ suicide prevention.
Also receiving one of the four grants is the Ness City Leisure Years Center located in Ness City, KS. The Leisure Years Center is a non-profit organization designed as a place for community members to get together for many functions including daily lunch, exercising, games, and other activities. The building is also rented for functions such as graduations, showers, and reunions. The $1,000 Sharing Success Grant will be used for new LED lighting throughout the center. The LEDs are more energy-efficient and will help reduce their monthly utility bill and increase the quality of lighting in the center.
The remaining two recipients for 2022 grants will be announced in next month’s issue. More information about the Sharing Success Grant Program can be found on our website at /cobank-sharing-success-grant-program
