Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative celebrated 85 years of providing power to our members and communities at our Annual Meeting on July 14at the Lane Co. Fairgrounds.  We treated over 450 members and guests to an evening of free fair-rides complimentary of the Lane County Amusement Association, a delicious barbecue dinner from John Ross & Co. Signature Catering, and a 85-year-old celebratory camping mug.

The business portion of the annual meeting included approval of the 2025 annual meeting minutes and treasurer’s report. Employment recognition was given to Ben Mann, for 25 years, Chad Rupp and Michael Pollock for 20 years, Scott Briand and Blake McVicker for five years.

General Manager, Richard McLeon, announced the six 2026 Continuing Education Scholarship recipients including Kamryn Anderson, Cally Cramer, Monica Jordan, Taegin Liggett, Emma Petersilie, and Jessa York.

Karlee Whipple, one of Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative’s 2026 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour attendees, shared highlights from her memorable experience, offering members and guests a firsthand glimpse into the leadership, learning, and lasting connections fostered through the Youth Tour program.

McLeon provided the 2025 annual report. Guest speaker Lee Tafanelli, CEO of Kansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (KEC) provided industry information, current challenges and opportunities, and various initiatives, such as Voices for Cooperative Power, KEC is involved in.

The board of trustee election results were announced as follows: Randall G. Evans was elected to represent the Lane and Gove district, James Jordan to the Ness and Rush district, and Susan Nuss to the Finney and Hodgeman district. Trustees are elected to three-year terms.

Many raffle items were awarded throughout the meeting.
