Lane-Scott is excited to announce that we will be sponsoring two sophomore or junior high school students this year to attend the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp to be held in Steamboat Springs, CO July 15-22, 2022! Electric Cooperatives across the country have had to cancel their sponsorship of the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp and Electric Cooperative Youth Tour the past two years due to Covid-19 restrictions. So far this year, the Leadership Camp is back on!

Unfortunately, at this time Lane-Scott is not participating in the Youth Tour in Washington, DC again in 2022. Covid-19 concerns and uncertainties for traveling to Washington, DC were significant enough that Lane-Scott decided instead to offer additional continuing education scholarships with the funds set aside for the trip.

More About the Leadership Camp!

High school students from electric cooperative communities in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Wyoming are selected for this week-long event with the intent of helping students develop their leadership skills! Some of our state’s most influential leaders are camp alumni who attribute their achievements to this trip. While in Colorado, you will learn about the cooperative business model, develop leadership skills, and listen to nationally recognized speakers. Together, campers will create a candy cooperative, run the camp activities, and build meaningful connections!
