Introducing the Lane-Scott Electric Pay Ahead Power Program
The Pay Ahead Power Program gives members control of their electric account! There is no deposit, no late fees, no due date, and no monthly statements. You choose when and how much electricity to purchase. This program is available to residential meters, and a SmartHub account is required to monitor your account balance. To participate, you must complete a Pay Ahead Power service agreement with us by calling the office during business hours.
What is Backfeed?
Backfeed is when power flows in reverse. An alternate power source, usually a portable or permanent generator feeds energy back through a home's electrical system, meter and into the power lines.
Find out what you need to safely operate both permanent and portable generators.

Crews Work in Blizzard Conditions to Restore Power
The January blizzard brought 14+ inches of snow and 60 mph winds to the Lane-Scott Electric service area. Crews faced challenging conditions of near zero visibility at times, drifted-over highways and county roads, and freezing wind chill temperatures.
We would like to send a special thank you to all the farmers who volunteered their time and tractors. Without them, we would not have been able to do our job.

How Severe Winter Weather Impacts Reliability
When outdoor temps drop, our electricity use increases. We're doing more activities inside, and our heating systems are running longer and more often. Factor in that we all tend to use electricity at the same time, and a lot of strain is put on our electric grid.
