Meet Our 2019 Youth Tour Winners
Kiley Whipple Caitlin Smee Lexis Beesley Kaden Bradstreet
Kiley Whipple, Caitlin Smee, Lexis Beesley, and Kaden Bradstreet were selected to represent Lane-Scott Electric at this year’s Youth Tour experiences. These students were selected based on their two-hundred-word essay about “How have the services from Lane-Scott Electric made our lives better.” Our winners will join a group of more than 1,500 students from across America to either attend the Washington DC Tour or the Steamboat Springs Leadership Camp.
Kiley and Caitlin will be headed to Washington, D.C. for a week in June to gain a personal understanding of American history and their role as a citizen be meeting their Representative and Senators. Student groups are organized at the state level, but will all come together for Youth Day, where they get to meet each other and hear featured speakers who provide insight to the important roles electric cooperatives play in their communities.
Lexis and Kaden will be traveling to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in July for the 2019 Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp. In addition to learning about the cooperative world and working on leadership skills, they will take part in adventures like white water rafting, touring a coal mine, and visiting the Craig Generation Plant.
Lane-Scott Electric is proud to support the youth of our communities. These students will gain valuable leadership skills, meet student leaders from nearly every state, make friendships that will last a lifetime, and become part of a group that has more than 50,000 alumni in every walk of life. Attend our Annual Meeting this summer to hear Kiley and Caitlin speak about their experiences in Washington, DC!
